Poverty, elections, and Norwich North

Last night I touched on the subject of poverty, well that is a bit extreme, but more accurately, not having any money in your pocket.  This has been the case for a few weeks, due to a site launch and buying a house.  Though obviously this is not very nice, it has shown me that I do tend to waste money on things I do not really need, like chocolate.  Also, not having much cash has given me a sense of freedom, as when you have money you also have greater responsibilities, as you are able to do more than what you could when you had nothing.  The knock on effect that if someone significant to you needs money, the responsibility is yours to provide it.  Unless of course, you can't.

I do not feel this is an issue of balance as such, as it has far reaching implications to society as how much money a person needs, should have, and should be allowed to have.  My own feelings is one more of social conscious than greed.  But would I think differently if I had lots of money.  It is something I would like to find about, and I make no bones about that.

Should someone be allowed to earn a hundred times that of someone else?  Well no.  It's an absurd principle, yet if I was the person that earned it would I think again?  Yes, I probably would.  I like to think though, I would not try to cover the issue in bullshit, should I I ever be in a position to defend the indefensible.

Social issues have come to this blog, and as I live in the constituency of Norwich North, I have exercised my democratic right and voted.  I feel everyone should vote as many people died for us to get it.  Also, if you chose not to vote, then don't complain.  You have no right to.  Saying that, as Labour and the Conservative party have differences that are now measured in millimetres as opposed to miles, I was left with little option but to vote for a party that is on the peripheries of our democratic system.

This means that my vote will probably not be represented in Parliament.  The absurdity of our system, is that it is not proportional representation, but first past the post.  So millions of votes are not counted in the time of a general election.  In effect this means that if I want my vote to count I have to vote for the favourite MP to win my constituency, and not for the party that has the most sensible policies.  What's that about?

Busy times and new ventures, must be a typical week for a Freelance writer

Well this week is officially three days old and once again I have been typing words like there is no tomorrow.  Though I cannot remember how many precisely I have written over the last five days, I think it must be somewhere in the reigion of fifteen thousand, give or take.  Though the majority of these were for my weekly Precise English job, I wrote quite a few for Digitpedia, and quite a bit of copy for my SEO venture, link-optimise.com.  This site is complete and is amazing, if I do say so myself.

This week and for a long time last week, I had more or less no money.   Other than the times when I am praying that link-optimise will become successful so I am earning plenty of cash, not having much cash in my pocket- £0.98 to be precise, has actually become quite liberating.   I don't have to watch the pennies because I haven't got any to watch.  It is a strange feeling, now I have managed to let go of the hate of not having any money.  All a bit of a relevation.  Sleep well.

My work there is done, and yet just beginning…

My work on link-optimise.com is now completed save a few tweaks.  All  the copy is written, so once Phil has done his bit, the site will officially be launched.  This will hopefully mean a very busy period for me where I am search engine optimising websites for money.

This is a solid business venture, and this together with out new venture, will hopefully mean we become self employed, and no longer depend on our mundane day jobs.

As our Great SEO experiment will start tomorrow/Monday, these times are very exciting.  Fingers crossed we are on the first page of Google soon.

Tomorrow is an exciting day!

Though at the moment I have no money, I do have many reasons to be cheerful.  One of the reasons, is that hopefully after tomorrow, Phil and I will have completed link-optimise.com.  This means that we can really push the site and see the outcome of our SEO experiment.  In many ways I should be feeling tense, as if the experiment fails, our ways of finding work reduce considerably.  This is not to say that we will never find work through this venture, but the SEO experiment does give us a great marketing platform, and one which we must maximise for our needs.

I have also completed (finally) my piece for webdesigndepot.com, and have sent it to Phil to turn it into an HTML file.  This represents the next level in web journalism for me and it is something that I can point to as a measure of success.  I am very pleased with this achievement, and feel it is a just reward for my efforts.  Hope I am not sounding too big headed here.

The change in myself and the boost to my confidence can not be overstated.  I have gone from being someone that thought they could make a go of writing, to someone who has.  I no longer see myself as a Stores Administrator, but a freelance writer, and that is something truly remarkable.  This is something I only ever dreamed about.

www.link-optimise.com, the only SEO provider worth tipping your hat too!

It's only in beta format, and there is still much work to do, but I have to say that mine and Phil's new venture www.link-optimise.com, has gone live in beta format.  It looks amazing, and if you are interested in anything search engine optimise related, then have a look at it.  Even in its current form you will still get an idea about the subject, and if you are looking for a way to optimise your website, get in touch.  Phil and I are experts in the field of SEO, and we work for reasonable rates.  All the elements of SEO are covered, and we can bring search engine optimisation to your site.

Freelance writing updates.

Hi folks.  Well I feel satisfied tonight, I completed a long and tedious task of rewriting a web page for Dreamtemplate.com.  Not that I wish to appear ungrateful, as the pay is good, but nonetheless, blogging is work I prefer as it gives you more scope for creativity, even if you have an eye out for a suitable place for an SEO keyword.  I realise though that this is the world of freelance writing, and we all have to take the rough with the smooth.

The Freelance writer that  I hoped to outsource too said they were not interested.  To be honest $1.25 for 400 word articles is poor pay, but it is fairly easy to bang out articles of this length quickly, and if you are doing 24 per week, it looks a little more rosy.

On a different note, I have just written two more blogs for Cowinkidink.  I feel this is taking shape now, and have managed to devote some thought to my next blogs.  I want to develop the blog in such a way, that I can move away from the basic dos and don'ts of dating.   My next blogging venture for Cowinkidink, however, is to go for safety tips for online dating.  I feel David will go for this idea.

Tomorrow is another day, and I feel my quest is on the verge of moving to a new level, and for this freelance writer, is amazing.

SEO Example: The Importance of SEO article writing

This is another blog I wrote for Dreamtemplate.com.  The keyword phrase is "The importance of SEO article writing".

SEO, or search engine optimisation, is an important element in any web design.   The most popular search engines are geared towards searching for text, and though it is said that a picture conveys a thougsand words, a website’s text will hold the audience to a site, accommodate their needs, and if it is the aim, sell them something.

The idea behind SEO writing is to include the same phrase or word a few times in the text, so that it is hi-lighted on a search engine search, and therefore generates traffic for the site.  The searchable phrase or word, is known as the keyword.  The trick for any SEO writer, is to ensure the text retains interest, and relevance, and the balance of the writing, is not affected.

Here is a good example of bad SEO writing.  The keyword is “SEO writing”:

The importance of SEO writing is to ensure, that the keyword is repeated a few times throughout the text, which will ensure that if anyone searches for the keyword, in this case SEO writing, will find SEO writing, when searching a search engine for the keyword SEO writing.

As you can see the imbalance is, well, not the best, and reads poorly.  However, it does work well for this article that you are reading now, as it shows that the keyword “SEO writing”, which is what we were aiming for.

A better example would be:

The importance of SEO writing cannot be overstated.  It is a good reliable way to pull your intended audience to your site and thus, increase the traffic generated by it.  SEO writing is considerably cheaper than paying Google for advertising space, and good SEO writing has a proven record to generate sales.

As you can see, the second piece has far better balance, and the keyword, “SEO writing”, has still been repeated three times.   This will push a website up the rankings on a search engine, which is the idea.

Web graphics are important, the article’s aim here is not to undermine them, but to show that the text will bring the traffic to a site.  There are sites where the number of hits are not so important, and so there is no need for SEO writing to be included.  Or it a specialist interest site, and so will only cater for a likeminded audience.

However, it is now considered essential that the text of a commercial website, is of the highest quality, and as stated earlier, good SEO writing, will drive a site up the rankings in a search engine.  Especially, the daddy of all search engines, Google.  A website could look amazing, with brilliant animations and graphics, but it wont hold an audiences attention if the website does not convey anything to do them.  The best way to do this, is through the quality of the copy.

SEO writing also saves money on paying Google, and other search engine providers, to be at the top of the rankings.  It is good business sense, to use this technique to generate traffic.

So when you are designing a website, simply ask yourself what you wish to convey to the site’s intended audience, and then think about what someone would search for, when looking for your site.  Simply tailor the text to include that keyword, around three times in the body of the text.  Ideally, this will appear at the start, the middle, and the end.  For an article such as this one, it should not prove too difficult.  If the text is for navigation links, try and include the same text and link a few times on the page.  Good SEO writing will make all the difference to your site.

Exciting times can be tiring

Well the two people I thought were going to supply me with blogs, have not shown up to the party.  This is  not a major problem, but an annoying one.  I was kind of hoping to outsource the work, which would free up my time, but sadly, this has not happened.

Oh well, I shall try another source and which will yield better results, I hope.

At the moment I am working an average of 13 hours per day.  Sadly, the majority of this is in my mundane day job.  But hopefully, that will change soon.

A new job is on the horizon, a dating blog position could well be the next new venture.  I had an interview today and the guys I spoke too, sounded very competent.  I have to submit a sample by Monday, of the kind of blog I would be doing for them, should I be successful.  Together with Precise English, who want me to write on a regular basis, makes the future look a little brighter.

Over the next few days I will be publishing some articles on SEO writing, so if any of you read them and want a quote for some SEO writing work, just email me: richard@teahon.co.uk.  I'd be happy to quote.

I can also provide an complete SEO service to help get your website pushed up the rankings.  This service is in conjunction with Odaku design.

SEO is not a new technique, but one that seems to have a lot of mystiscm surrounding it.  It really is a simple concept, and one that I would be happy to share with you.

Till the next time my friends...

Welcome to the new part of the site…

My blog is finally launched, and thanks for reading it!  A bit presumptuous perhaps, considering so far I am little known in the writing world, but as I type these words, I feel that is about to change.

Over the rest of my life, I am planning to update you on my progress to becoming a full time writer, as well as showcasing my work, which currently includes SEO, blogs, article writing, and short stories.  As well as these exciting instalments, I will also keep you updated on other projects I am working on, including my novel, which has the working title, "The sun at the bottom of the ocean".

"The sun at the bottom of the ocean", is a childrens' story set beneath the waves where a clash of cultures, a girl named Sharon, and the lost city of Atlantis, combine to bring a little story to life.  Watch this space.

My web work will also be displayed here, and I will also include a brief description in what context they have been used in.

I hope that I can bring to you a little bit of discussion to liven up our days as we dwell on the woes and joys of writing, so feel free to contribute to the blog.  All posts are welcome, as long as they are genuine.

Well that about winds up my first post, I feel it was a success, and I'll no doubt be raising my glass to many more...
